Why buy organic Sicilian oranges online?

Because you receive them directly from the producer, picked and shipped within 48 hours: fresher than supermarket oranges and with
a traceable short supply chain. Being Bioagricert certified organic
and untreated after harvesting
, they have edible peel and
no chemical preservation residues.

What varieties of organic oranges can you find here?

Here you can find organic Sicilian oranges categorized by pulp
color, taste, and harvest period. Here's how to choose the right one:

We cultivate a wide variety of oranges. Among the redones: the Tarocco PGI(sweet and juicy, low acidity, from December to April, for eating and juicing) and the Moro PGI(intense red, distinct, with notes of red fruits, from January to March, ideal for juicing). Among the blondeones: the Navel(sweet and seedless, from November to February), the Washington Navel(sweet, firm pulp, from January to March), the Vanilla(sweet and delicate, low acidity, from December to February, also suitable for children), the Cara Cara(pinkish pulp, sweet and aromatic, from December to February), the Lane Late(late and balanced, from February to April, for eating and juicing) and the late oval blondes(juicy, from April to June, for juicing). Finally, the bitteroranges (sour-bitter, from January to February), ideal for jams and liqueurs.

Why do organic oranges have untreated peel?

Because they are grown organically and do not receive chemical treatments
or preservation waxes after harvesting. This is why the peel is edible:
you can grate the zest for cakes, jams, risottos, or to flavor
water, something not recommended with conventionally surface-treated oranges.
The Bioagricertcertification guarantees compliance with the
European organic farming regulations with annual checks.

What is the season for Sicilian oranges?

The Sicilian orange season runs from November to June,
with different varieties alternating. It starts with blonde Navels (November),
continues with red Tarocco and Moro (December–March) and ends with late blonde
juicing oranges (April–June). We pick to order:
citrus fruits leave freshly picked, so they arrive fresh and retain their
aroma and vitamin C for longer.

Juicing or eating oranges: which to choose?

For juicing, choose the juiciest varieties rich in juice: Moro,
Tarocco, and late oval blondes. For eating in segments (table oranges),
Navel and Vanilla are ideal, sweet and with few or no seeds. Tarocco is the
most versatile variety: excellent both for eating and juicing.

What do short supply chain and pick-to-order mean?

It means that the oranges go from the tree to your home without
intermediaries
. We don't pick in advance to fill warehouses:
we pick the citrus fruits only after receiving the order and ship them within 48 hours.
The result is fresher fruit, less waste, and the guarantee of knowing exactly
where they come from: our 15 hectares of citrus grove in Francofonte, cultivated by the
same family since 1960.

How are organic oranges shipped?

We ship throughout Italy within 48 hoursof departure, with
tracked delivery. Oranges travel in
ventilated crates in the sizes available for each variety, without the need for
refrigeration. We pick on weekends and ship at the beginning of the week to
avoid stock accumulation during courier closing days.

Frequently asked questions about organic oranges

Do organic oranges really have edible peel?

Yes. As they are not treated with fungicides or post-harvest waxes, the zest of our
organic oranges can be used in cooking. We still recommend
washing them under running water before use.

How much do organic oranges cost?

In our collection, organic oranges start from €16.90 per box for Navels and €17.90 for Tarocco PGI. The price per kg decreases when choosing larger sizes.

What is the difference between Tarocco and Moro?

Tarocco has mottled red pulp, is sweeter and more delicate, and is excellent both for eating and juicing. Moro has intense red pulp, a more distinct flavor with notes of red fruits, and is the preferred variety for bright-colored juices.

Are the oranges shipped already ripe?

Yes. We only pick perfectly ripe fruits to order, so the oranges are ready to eat upon arrival. They can be stored for several days in a cool, dry place or in the refrigerator.

Do you deliver throughout Italy?

Yes, we ship throughout Italy within 48 hours with tracked courier service.
