It is thought to have originated from a bud mutation of the common Sanguinello discovered in a citrus grove in Francofonte, our production area, between the 19th and 20th centuries. Organic Tarocco oranges from Sicily cultivated using organic farming methods (Operator IT BIO 007 198399). Our fruits are grown on hills, early ripening areas, and on plains, late ripening areas. Our "Tarocco" oranges belong to the following clonal selections: common Tarocco, Tarocco Gallo, Tarocco Nocellare, and Tarocco dal Muso.

Characteristics of organic Tarocco oranges

  • Shape: obovate or globose
  • Also distinguished by the so-called collar or "snout," which is more or less prominent
  • Flesh Color: orange with more or less intense red streaks
